Live jamming in Renoise

My debut on Youtube

2008.05.11 | News

Here's a quickie video of how I play around with Renoise and use it in a 'live' situation. I got the idea of putting up a video after reading a discussion on the Renoise-board about how to use Renoise in live mode, mainly to show how I'm using it and coming up with arrangement ideas 'on the fly'.

The track itself is 'a couple of patterns'-track I've been working on and thought would fit nicely for the demonstration.

can you explain a little as to what exactly you're doing? am interested to know how exactly you arranged the tracks and trigger them. thanks!!

jose: The key is to put different elements of the song on each track and loop it, and what I simply do is to mute and de-mute the tracks, thus creating an arrangement.

In Renoise, the channels won't start to play again when de-muting until something is actually triggered in that track (like a note-on) and based on that it doesn't sound exactly like when you're de-muting on a mixer, but instead you can do it with a little more finesse.
